Blue Skies for Wearing O' the Green

St. Patty's Day weather aims to please this year. Tony O'Cavalier blogs green with a twinkle in his eye and a bounce to his step.

Blue Skies for the Wearing O' the Green

It's St. Patty's day across the globe, a day when we all claim to be Irish. So clad in green attire and sporting emerald green glows to their cheeks, Leprechauns of all ages are whopping it up from St. Stephen's Shopping Center in Dublin to St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC to Mac Redo's pub in Huntington.

Weather-wise, the Luck of the Irish is in our favor as morning fog has burned off and the morning chill has wilted under the assault of the mid March sun. Afternoon temperatures will mellow into the low 60s for all those "smilin' Irish Eyes".

For night time revelers, evening temperatures will settle back into the 50s as Ol Sol packs it in for the day. Frosted mugs of green beer will match the frosted lawns and car windshields that greet us again at dawn Thursday.

While the growing season is soon to be upon us, most gardeners know it's too soon to plant tender plants like tomatoes and geraniums. But the wives tale is if you plant your potatoes on St. Patty's Day then you will harvest a bountiful crop in summer.

So for all green thumbs out there, this is Tony O'Cavalier wishing you a Happy St. Patty's day for the "Wearin' O' the Green".
