The weather looks ideal this Easter week. Tony documents the early taste of summer and has your Easter sundial data.
Easter Week Weather and Sundial
It’s the week leading up to Easter and the weather is about to tickle our funny bones and perk up our spirits! In fact, the warmest weather since September is in store as we enter the Easter weekend.
From Morgantown (Mountaineer Central) to Indianapolis (Final Four Haven) and from McArthur (home of the May Wild Turkey Festival) to Pikeville (host to the ever-popular Hillbilly Days Festival in 2 weeks), the weather will aim to please. Look for our WSAZ people and cameras to be on hand at all these venues in the days to come!
With bountiful sunshine, highs will reach 70 on Wednesday, near 80 on Maundy Thursday and as high as 85 on Good Friday. By the weekend, for all those Easter egg hunts and for the wearing of Easter bonnets on Sunday, a bit more cloud cover will take the edge off the warmest air, so 80 on Saturday and 70s on Sunday look on target.
There is a narrow window of opportunity for a shower Saturday night into Sunday morning, but church ministers should definitely go ahead with planned outdoor Saturday vigils and Sunday sunrise services.
As for your Easter sundial, here’s the data you need to know.
The Easter calculation comes in 3 easy steps.
Step #1 When did spring begin? March 20th at 1:32 PM.
Step #2 Find the first full moon after the spring equinox. Tonight, March 30.
Step #3 The First Sunday after the full moon that follows the equinox is Easter. April 4.
As for church services, many churches have both Easter Vigil (at sundown Easter Saturday) and Easter Sunrise services to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Using the Charleston WV sundial, sunset Easter Saturday night is 7:51 and Sunrise Easter Sunday is 7:08. Those numbers will vary by a minute or 2 depending on where you live.
