Be Weather-wise on Sunday

Some areas will get a downpour on Sunday. Tony targets who will get wet and when.
Sunday’s Weather Breakdown
The title of tonight’s blog is a reminder to be “weather aware” all summer long. As we saw on Thursday evening, a warm tropical paradise on an evening can turn dark and menacing in a heartbeat.
This Saturday evening, the weather has turned nothing short of fantastic with a gorgeous sunset and gentle breezes conspiring to conjure up a piece on Nirvana.
Under the cover of darkness, temperatures are set to drop in to the 50s in cool hollows tonight. For those camping in the dark at Beech Fork or Grayson Lake, a shooting star may entertain you. For those taking in the Riverfest fireworks at Roadside Park in St. Albans, tie a sweat shirt or light jacket around your waist before you head out since temperatures will slip into the 60s at sunset.
Sunday concludes FestivALL in Charleston and Ribfest in St. Albans. I see most of the day at those Kanawha County venues to be dry with a late day-early evening risk of showers.
Farther west, showers will approach along the AA highway by early afternoon thru northern Kentucky before diverting southeastward into the Coalfields. In the River Cities, an hour or two of afternoon rains will threaten.
Two rules of thumb, the farther north you live the less likely showers will impact your Sunday. Yet the farther southwest you reside, the better chance of an interruption in outdoor plans on Sunday afternoon.
So to the kids heading to the Eleanor city pool, enjoy! While a word of caution for folks in Vanceburg; namely, be prepared for a downpour Sunday afternoon.
