Weekend Wows, Next Week Woes
It’s the first weekend in December and considering it could be cold and snowy, the weather this go around aims to please!
Good thing since Santa has a very busy schedule of parades and events to attend.
Let’s start out Saturday morning with the Charleston parade. After a frosty start, temperatures will mellow into the 40s as we step off on Court Street near the mall. I will be there clad in Santa helper hat along with others from WSAZ.
The mile long walk will be invigorating for those of us moving, but if you plan to watch the parade in one place, make sure the buildings do not block your view of the sun. That will assure the kids do not get cold.
While we are marching, GW Patriot fans will be getting close to Wheeling Island Stadium where the Pats have a date with top ranked Martinsburg in the WV state AAA title game.
Weather-wise in the Northern Panhandle, look for kickoff temperatures near 45 with a gusty breeze from the south crossing the stadium. Milky sun will paint the sky a hazy white.
At the same time, the Belfry Pirates will be lacing up their cleats in Bowling Green where temperatures will end up close to 60 with a brisk breeze.
The return trips from both venues, hopefully accompanied by state title trophies, will be dry and cool.
As for Saturday afternoon parades, the lineup includes Oak Hill Ohio at 1, Grayson at 3 with Gallipolis and Hurricane stepping off at 4:30. The air will feel mild in Grayson as Santa passes the historic Carter County Courthouse while the lowering sun at City Park in Gallipolis and Main Street in Hurricane will sponsor a cooler feeling to the late day air.
Sunday too looks nice overall as afternoon clouds dull and then block out the morning sun. Highs will get close to 60 before showers arrive points west either late day or more likely at night. Overall, good Christmas decorating outdoor weather for procrastinators!
Back to school and work, back to rain next week. Details TBA.
Enjoy your weekend
