Severe Weather Risk Increases

Tornado Watch Until 9

Turbulent spring weather will pose the risk of severe weather late this Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Don’t be fooled by the warm, windy sunshine this afternoon, as it will be the spark needed to ignite short-lived, fast moving and locally severe thunderstorms.

The tornado watch is meant to add a heightened sense of awareness to your afternoon and evening plans. The watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather (large hail, high winds and an isolated twister).

Suggestions for this afternoon include

1. Keep the kids playing close-by (within shouting distance) since the sun will be out much of the time. If a storm warning is issued, then you will be able to get them inside quickly with a yell across the street.

2. Mobile homes are considered unsafe in high winds so it is your choice as to whether to wait out the watch, or to be proactive and head to a neighbor’s house until the storm threat has passed.

3. If you have a garage or carport, best to park the car inside away from possible hail and wind.
