Spring in Fall Weekend Ahead

The weather will be more like April or even May than October this weekend. Tony tailors his forecast to local events with his weekend blog.
“Springy Fun” for Festivals This Weekend
The weekend is here and yippee! The weather aims to please. Gone are the frosted mornings with ice on windshields, though cold hollows will have frost at dawn Saturday especially in the WV high country of Nicholas, Braxton and Clay Counties and in Southern Ohio meadows through the Zaleski and Shawnee State Forests..
If you are doing a charity or distance run in the morning (Huntington Crosswood Community Church among those hosting events) the early chill will be accompanied by river valley fog, but no wind. The temperature near 38 with little wind will be ideal for good run times.
Quickly the October sun will go to work and warm the air to 60 by the start of the Black Walnut Festival parade in Spencer and 70 for the opening kickoff of the Bobcat Homecoming at Peden Stadium (2pm) on the banks of the Hocking River.

Here’s an idea! Why not take in the Bob Evans Farm Fest in Rio Grande on the Homestead grounds in the afternoon in shirt sleeves as the high hits 72 then head over to Davis Field on the University of Rio Grande campus for the 7pm soccer match between the top ranked (#1 in the nation) Red Storm and the Pikeville Bears.

After the spirited game on the soccer pitch, chances are good you will need a jacket for the ”Rockets over Rio” fireworks display as the temperature settles back to 60 degrees.
Sunday’s weather may turn a bit duller in sky condition as clouds partially fill the sky, but temperatures should be a tad warmer than Saturday thanks to quickening breezes. Those winds will gust to 25 even 30 miles per hour on Sunday, making for an enhanced risk of brush fires.
Best to put off all burning until we get some rain late Sunday night into Monday morning when showers will be crossing the region.
Other events this weekend include a “Throw Back” Saturday at the Heritage Farm in Harveytown , Fire Prevention Field days in Harts and Point Pleasant and Fall Festivals in Wayne and Hurricane. Enjoy our spring fling!
