Fair Weather for Fairs and Festivals
The early week showers and squalls have run their course and now a 5th spell of September in summer weather is set to invade.
Nights in the comfy 50s and low 60s and days in the cozy (my vernacular for comfortably warm) upper 70s and low 80s look to rule through the weekend,.
Skies will trend brighter and bluer after a grey start on Wednesday. That means nearly perfect late summer weather for outdoor events.
On the county fair circuit, the Meigs County fair is just outside of Pomeroy and has a tradition that dates back to the 1850s! You will find all your 4H and entertainment events at http://www.themeigscountyfair.com/.
In Matewan, the annual Magnolia Festival is underway in Southern Mingo County. Highlighted by the Ultimate Queen Pageant on Saturday night, this event is a celebration of summer’s end.
In the Kanawha Valley, if you like succulent ribs, then Ribfest in Dunbar is the place to have dinner and enjoy music. Shawnee Park is the host venue starting Thursday.
On the Indian Mound in South Charleston, shag dancing reigns supreme as the “records” start spinning on Wednesday with the Davisson Brothers on stage.
In Ironton, the Rally on the River is now in its 11th year as bikers converge on this mid-Ohio Valley town for a long weekend of music and entertainment. Here’s your marquee for this popular event.
So pick out a festival or fair and enjoy a taste of September weather in mid August!
