Weekly Weather Calendar

Tony takes a look ahead at this week's weather.

Election Day and Beyond

The first Tuesday after the first Monday in November is late this year, so for Ohioans and Kentuckians the weather for Election Day is top of mind on Tuesday.

This go round the forces of nature will conspire to produce an Indian Summer extravaganza across the Buckeye and BluegrassStates for voters, and for brown baggers on their lunch break in West Virginia. (Recall how Mountain Staters went to the polls just a month ago during the special Gubernatorial Election.)

After Tuesday morning fog burns away and the dawn dew evaporates, warm southerly breezes will take over and team with abundant sunshine to propel temperatures into the 60s by the lunch hour and low 70s for the afternoon school bell.

Wednesday too will feature tepid southern breezes helping to keep sunrise readings near 50. The difference, Wednesday morning sun will give way to gathering afternoon clouds. Our first showers of the week will arrive in broken line form by day’s end and especially at night.

Wednesday’s highs will settle into the 60s before peaking ahead of the approaching cloud and shower front. Points east toward Charleston should get within a few degrees of 70.

Once the cold front that sponsors the showers passes, the latest shot of chilly autumn air will arrive on Thursday accompanied by a rain or wet snow shower (depending on elevation).

Veteran’s Day parades in Huntington and Charleston will feature cold and blustery winds that will knife through the air while bending Old Glory. Proud doughboys will find the Armistice Day air invigorating with 11AM temperatures near 38 with a wind chill making it feel like freezing.

The parades continue on Saturday as the CK parade is sponsored by our friends at the VFW Post while St. Albans hosts it's annual march past Old Main Plaza. Sunshine will help to warm things nicely by 11 am parade times as temperatures recover into the 40s.
