ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Chris is a world traveler trapped in the body of a 10-year-old boy.
He can be described as a wide-eyed wonder ready to take the world by storm. He also has some natural talent in basketball that he's just discovering.
Chris would love to share the things he enjoys with a loving and supportive forever family.
WSAZ.com's Carrie Cline had the following conversation with Chris:
CARRIE: So tell me what you like to do for fun?
CHRIS: Ride bikes and play baseball
CARRIE: So, you like to spend time outside?
CHRIS: Yes
CARRIE: What about school? Do you like school?
CHRIS: Yes
CARRIE: What's your favorite subject?
CHRIS: Science and social studies
CARRIE: What about science? Do you like doing the experiments?
CHRIS: Yes
CARRIE: What about social studies do you like?
CHRIS: I like learning things about different places?
CARRIE: Do you like to travel?
CHRIS: Yes
CARRIE: What's the most exciting place you've traveled to?
CHRIS: Canada
CARRIE: What did you see there?
CHRIS: I went to the chocolate factory and went over to a restaurant that was really tall.
CARRIE: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you like to to go?
CHRIS: I would like to go to Egypt.
CARRIE: Why?
CHRIS: To find out how all the people started getting the same thing.
CARRIE: I noticed your favorite pet is a guinea pig. Now, that's an odd choice. Why a guinea pig?
CHRIS: Because they're awesome and they like to go right up underneath their chin when they're playing with you and not a big mess.
CARRIE: What would your ideal family be like?
CHRIS: The people would be not to controlling and friendly. I would always like to have games and go do something outside with a family member.
CARRIE: Why is it important for you to have a forever family?
CHRIS: So I can actually can actually be sitting at home and enjoying my family.
CARRIE: Do you enjoy life now?
CHRIS: Yeah, but I'd enjoy it more if Ihad a real family.
CARRIE: What do you think would be the neatest thing about having a real family?
CHRIS: So I could go to different places and do different stuff.
CARRIE: What's the best thing about Chris?
CHRIS: I'm fun and I respect other people.
After meeting with Chris, Carrie described him as "one of those young men that just warms your heart when you sit and talk to him. He comes across as a little quiet and shy initially, but once he starts talking, you can see how badly he just wants a place to belong and someone to really focus on him."
If you'd like to be that family, there is someone waiting by the phone now to answer your questions and get you started. You can call Athens County Children's Services at 740-589-3207.
