HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Most young children just want to be loved, cuddled and hugged and show that affection in return.
But, there are some children out there who don't know how because for them that love comes so rarely.
It's a sad reality for many children living in foster care. It's why Toby is so anxious to find that forever family that will love him unconditionally and that he can love and trust in return.
WSAZ.com's Carrie Cline talked with Toby during a fun game of air hockey in the arcade at Camden Park.
CARRIE: Tell me what kinds of things you do for fun.
TOBY: Play games
CARRIE: Video games?
TOBY: What's your favorite video game?
CARRIE: I read you played the trumpet?
TOBY: I used to. I wasn't very good ... I'm good in basketball.
CARRIE: What about school? What's your favorite subject in school?
TOBY: Recess and gym.
CARRIE: Recess? Come on! You don't like math? Science?
TOBY: I like math.
CARRIE: What do you want to be when you grow up?
TOBY: Firefighter
CARRIE: Why do you want to be a firefighter?
TOBY: Because my foster father does that. I want to be a firefighter or a logger because my real dad is a logger.
CARRIE: Why do you want to be adopted?
TOBY: Mostly because I want to have a family.
CARRIE: Why is that important?
TOBY: Because I won't have people I can love.
CARRIE: What is it like being 10 and not having a forever family.
TOBY: I've been in foster care for three years so far.
Cline says it's important to remember that she and Toby were in an arcade, and that's where Toby really had a lot of fun. He said he would love to someday own an air hockey table and skee ball machine. He also likes to ride dirt bikes.
Toby's birthday is coming up at the end of August. He's turning 11 and would love a new family to celebrate with.
