HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Something as simple as having someone to call mom and dad is a privilege many of us take for granted.

For children living in foster care, it's one of the many luxuries they don't have. But Sarah isn't letting that slow her down. She's a vibrant 15-year-old who's full of dreams, ambitions and fun.

Following is a discussion between Sarah and WSAZ.com's Carrie Cline:

Carrie - So, what grade are you going into?
Sarah -I'm going into the 11th grade again. Not that I failed. I skipped a grade and told them I wanted to go back with my friends, so they put me back with my friends.

Carrie - OK, so friends are important to you?
Sarah - Yeah

Carrie - What's your favorite part of school?
Sarah - You get to hear people's answers and how they learn.

Carrie - Do you have a favorite subject?
Sarah - Yes, science

Carrie - What do you like about science?
Sarah - You're always doing something new. You never do the same thing over. It's always something new. With physics, you never repeat the same thing. It's cool.

Carrie - What do want to do when you grow up, something with science?
Sarah - Yes, medical, I want to become a neurologist.

Carrie - Why is it important to have a forever family?
Sarah - I've never had a true family. I've had a family that's hurt me, and my mom's never been there for me, and I just want a family that I can call mine. I want to be able to call mom and dad.

Carrie - What kinds of things do you like to do for fun.
Sarah - Volleyball. I've played on a team for a while.

Sarah - To me, family is a main virtue in a life because they teach you family values. If you don't have a true family and you always get moved around, it's not really that fun and you don't really learn things. You get used to a family and then you get moved and it's not that fun.

Sarah - I came into foster care in 2007 and since I've come into foster care this time, I've been in five different foster homes.

Carrie - How tough is that?
Sarah - It's really hard because you can't ever get comfortable. It would be nice to have a home where you could say mom and dad because with foster families you can't really do that because you're not going to be there forever.

Carrie - What would you say to someone out there about why they should make you a part of their family?
Sarah - Because I'm fun. I make people laugh. I am very funny. At school, I'm constantly making teachers, principals laugh at me.

Carrie - What is your ideal family?
Sarah - I want them real nice. I want to have younger siblings. I really do because I'm really good with younger babies. They're so cute. I want them to be nice to me. If I'm having a bad day, not just scream at me. Just sit down and talk to me and figure out what's really wrong. Sometimes, when I get mad at stupid little stuff, it's not stupid, there's something behind what's making me mad.

Sarah - I don't care where I'm at as long as I can travel.

Sarah says she's been in five foster homes in three years. She says when it comes to her ideal family, she'd love a family with young siblings. She loves babies.

Sarah really is a lot of fun. She is so happy in spite of her circumstances. If you'd like to learn more about how you can make her a part of your family, just call 1-800-232-KIDS. That's 1-800-232-5437.
