CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A year after voters in Kanawha County said yes to table games, they still aren't able to roll the dice.

But voters will soon have a better timeline on what's going to happen at Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center in Nitro.

Racetrack managers will meet with the Kanawha County Commission next Thursday to update everyone on their plans going forward. The Commission meeting starts at 5:00pm.

Commissioner Kent Carper asked for the meeting to make sure the racetrack keeps its promise in bringing 1,000 jobs to the area.

Just a few weeks ago, managers at the racetrack told WSAZ.com poker tables will be up and running by September. The other table games, like black-jack and roulette, will follow within 45 to 60 days after the poker games debut.

However, there's still no word on when construction will begin on a 250-room hotel near the racetrack.

The laws the law and the Lottery has to get their share of the take.Near as I can tell the track gets 80%,employees 15% of that 80%.So payout on machines is 65% or less depending on overhead cost.Table games like craps are the best gamble.Hard to get help when you charge $400.to train them with no guarantee of making a test/probation job.

Thats a great comment Timmy. You gamble and smoke, but are upset that smoking is not permitted at TriState. News flash... that's not Tri State's call. It's the elected officials in Kanawha County and the Department of Health. I agree TriState should step up and get things moving. WV is not business friendly and TriState has a battle with every step. I too visit smaller gaming facilities, but give TriState a chance. Maybe another year. It will be more than the "dog track" it will be a destination.

Get real folks... I live in putnam county and would have voted against this law that allows for the table games. However, I like the dogs and slots and have been to tri-state many times... The place has went down hill since the smoking ban and now I go to the mom&pop places, smoke and drink and actually win money... I am glad to see the governor and the county commissioners standing up for the kanawha county citizens who voted this in. It is time that Tri-State be held accountable for their do nothings... PS if they closed their doors tomorrow we would all be better off.
