CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Younger drivers are more likely to die on West Virginia roads than anywhere else in the country, according to the latest numbers from the federal government.
Statistics show that West Virginia’s death rate among younger drivers was 70 percent higher than the national average. Thirty-six West Virginians between the ages of 16 and 20 died in crashes in 2006.
Experts say traffic fatalities are twice as high in rural areas where drivers are more likely to speed and less likely to wear seat belts.

drug test these coal truck drivers and make them slow down in wayne and mingo counties and the number might change. they've taken over our roads.

also add in the fact many roads are curvy, no shoulders, ditches next to road, and not enough experience to negotiate all that.

Maybe WV should consider raising the driver license age to 18. I think they shouldn't be able to get their learner's until 16 and give them 2 years to learn with a licensed driver. I think this would also help parents with their insurance costs.
