CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Another Kanawha Valley business is laying off workers.

A representative with West Virginia Steel told WSAZ.com Friday the company let around 35 employees go recently.

Those layoffs affected workers at the company's plants in Nitro and Charleston. Officials there say that the economy is to blame, but when business picks up they will reconsider hiring the workers who lost their jobs.

West Virginia Steel is is a separate company from STEEL OF WV(SWV) where I work. SWV had some layoffs earlier in the year, then a callback of most of those laid off, and now another round of layoffs, but not as severe as expected(some 31 workers insteada the projected 75 or so.) Let us encourage our federal reps to campaign for the Maglev train construction by USA companies, as SWV can rapidly make maglev conductor rails from scratch, with a high profit margin. These trains would be good for SWV, west virginia, & the nation as a whole.
