NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A stop at one home Wednesday night led police to make three arrests in connection with methamphetamine.

Nitro Police and the Metro Drug Task Force went to a home on Michigan Avenue to conduct what they call a “knock and talk” investigation.

Douglas Bays answered the door and let police inside. When they walked into the home, officers say they smelled a strong odor of methamphetamine. They soon discovered plastic tubing, glass beakers, a gas generator and numerous other items used to make the drug.

Pseudophedrine and other chemicals used to make meth were also found in Rissa Black’s possession. Black also lives at the home and was allegedly trying to hide the pills from police.

Police say they also searched Lynn Hayes and found a bag of meth in her cigarette purse.

Hayes is charged with possession of methamphetamine. According to records at the Kanawha County Board of Education, Hayes is a kindergarten teacher at Chandler Elementary School.

Bays and Black are both charged with Operating a Clandestine Lab.

It's kind of an odd way to rationalize this situation about teachers being drug tested but here we go. To make a fact-- Parent's are not drug tested before having kids or while having kids AS LONG AS THERE IS NO CURRENT PROBATION-. It was be extremely bad to find out a parent was doing illegal drugs. And they would possibly have their kids taken away if ever caught. Teachers would more than likely (hope so) get busted and fired as well if they got caught. There are certain occupations in society that "just aren't drug tested". And that is the way it goes. If teachers are to be drug tested, then shouldn't all parents be? Some of these statements make it seem as though teachers should be investigated much much more than parents. How do we know that some of the parent's aren't doing drugs? Should we now fire the parents from raising kids if they took one hit of pot and failed a drug test after a vacation where it was legal with their kids not present at the time?

This was one topic in my Education class, that really fires me up. I would be ticked if I found out that a dope head was teaching my child. All people who work around children should be drug tested.
