CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A former prominent attorney in Charleston is facing more time behind bars.
According to court records, Dante DiTrapano pleaded guilty Tuesday to making a false statement to a financial institution.
DiTrapano is accused of making false statements to a bank to obtain a loan. The incident happened in July 2005.
According to the criminal complaint, "DiTrapano forged the signature of another individual to a promissory note in the principal amount of $500,000 and did state to United Bank that the known individual had personally signed the promissory note."
DiTrapano faces 30 years behind bars. He is set for sentencing on January 14 at 10:00 a.m.
This isn't the first time DiTrapano has been in trouble with the law. Back in 2006, he was sentenced on a string of federal drug and gun charges. He also served time for violating his probation.
According to the West Virginia Bar Association, DiTrapano lost his law license back in May 2007.
