CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A monumental decision on Capitol Hill undeniably will affect just about everybody here in our region.

As plans for health care reform move on the fast track, the bill is ever changing. The House passed its version on Saturday. Now it's in the Senate's hands.

But in West Virginia, some groups already are giving a high five to Congressman Nick Rahall. Supporters had a news conference Tuesday night to thank Rahall. The list of supporters was extensive including union leaders from the AFL-CIO and the West Virginia Nurses Association.

On Saturday, Rahall joined 219 other Democrats in voting for the bill. But 39 members of his own party said no, taking the same stance as Republicans -- saying it will cost too much for taxpayers.

While there was strong support for Rahall inside the press conference, a group opposed to the Congressman and the health care reform plan stood outside.

They waved signs and wore Anti-Rahall t-shirts saying "Nicki Joe has to go." They raised concerns about the cost of the plan and how it will affect senior citizens who rely on Medicaid.

Meanwhile, Senators Jay Rockefeller and Robert C. Byrd say they support the plan but they do plan to fight a provision that would eliminate the Children's Health Insurance Program. It helps thousands of needy kids in West Virginia.

Gov. Joe Manchin says he wants to hold off on a plan to expand Medicaid coverage for adults in West Virginia because there's no point in making major changes until Washington decides on the health care legislation on a federal level.

This article said "some groups already are giving a high five to Congressman Nick Rahall for his support of health-care reform". Yeah I bet! That is about the biggest pile of crap I have heard for a while! I hardly see anyone (that is a productive, worthwhile, tax paying, working individual) that is applauding anything about this bill. After this, I have lost what little respect I had for Rahall and Mollohan. It appears that they have drank the kool-aid and given their souls to the dark side. Speaking of the ‘Comrade Obama Socialist Fiasco’, they are now going to be going after our senators on this health-care handout. So readers, please write to your senators asking them not to vote for this! Also, thank you Congresswoman Capito for your support on voting against HR 3962. Evidently you read it and understood it, knowing that it would not be a good Bill to support and knowing that it will be detrimental to our country and economy.
