CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- High school show choirs are known for their sequin outfits and elaborate dance routines, but they're pretty talented performers too.

Sunday Kanawha County high school show choirs got together for a special performance at the Municipal Auditorium in Charleston.

The students say it's a great experience that helps them prepare for upcoming competitions and a great opportunity to check out what the other show choirs in the area are up to.

Some students say they enjoy performing because it’s a chance to display a different persona.

“As soon as I get on stage, it's like nothing I've ever felt,” Herbert Hoover junior Jameson Shafer said. “It's like I'm not even me any more. I can just completely break loose."
