CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Gov. Joe Manchin is starting his Thanksgiving early, but giving a hand to some people in need.
The governor and first lady Gayle Manchin will be on hand at the Union Mission Crossroads homeless shelter in Charleston on Wednesday.
The state's first couple will assist with a Thanksgiving meal distribution at the shelter, which usually serves between 150 and 200 meals per day.
Last weekend was the big pre-Thanksgiving food giveaway for Union Mission. About 10,000 families in 19 counties received food baskets distributed by Union Mission.
Union Mission President Rex Whiteman says the need is greater than anything he's seen in 40 years.

Homeless soon for me...Just at Christmas. Merry Christmas!
Once again, Manchin is having another "photo-op". The Governor is doing this to have his image out there in the media to think he's doing something worthwile. The Governor doesn't care about the citizens of WV, he just cares about his next photo opportunity so he can steal Senator Byrds' seat.
Look at me, look at me, look at me. Man this country is going straight to hell! Freedom is'nt just the absense of chains..A politician can trample a mans rights as easy as a dictator can. Get ready to take the mark slaves...
