CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A West Virginia non-profit agency is making the process for adopting children a lot more affordable.
The Children's Home Society of West Virginia is making adoptions free.

It has dropped all the fees for registration, background checks and home visits, making the adoption of any child from West Virginia completely free.

That could have cost you up to $16 thousand.

The change was made because organizers say the need is so great.

There are about one-thousand children in West Virginia waiting to be adopted.

The Children's Home Society of West Virginia has even drastically cut its cost for adopting children from other states and countries.

Right now, the only free adoption is through the state's Foster To Adopt program.
