HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Eight cycling buddies recently embarked on a six-day, 425-mile ride from downtown Huntington to Washington, D.C. -- all to raise money for homeless veterans.

The men left Huntington June 23 and raised more than $27,000 in pledged and sponsored donations for the Huntington Homeless Veterans Resource Center.

Lee Ann Bills, a coordinator at the center, said the funds will help veterans feel more at home at the center.

“Now our veterans can buy the things they need to make a house a home,” Bills said.
