POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Point Pleasant football team displayed plenty heroics on the football field this past season, but this week's hometown hero was nominated for the work she did from the stands.
For the past few years Stephanie Gardner has helped other Big Blacks fans who couldn't be at the games follow the action.
"It kind of became an expectation every game," she said.
Stephanie's son plays on the team. She used her iphone and her knowledge of the game to post descriptive play-by-play updates every Friday night on Facebook.
As the Big Blacks 2011 campaign turned into one of the best seasons in school history with a perfect 10-0 record and a trip to Wheeling for the state championship, Stephanie's updates helped fans in other states feel like they were there every snap of the way.
“It made me feel really good, all the thank you's I got,” she said.
Although she's now got a Hometown Hero award under her belt, she's not content.
Stephanie will be back in the stands posting away in the spring for Point Pleasant's baseball season.
