CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two Grandview Elementary teachers have put in a heroic effort to make sure children in need have something under the tree this Christmas.
For the second year, teachers at the school have collected gifts for students who may not get gifts under the tree.
It's all part of Buddy's Christmas Cheer -- the school's effort to make sure no one goes without this holiday season.
“This year we have 65 children that we have been able to provide Christmas for,” Grandview Elementary Principal Michelle Settlle said. “We just want to make sure all of the students here -- and we do their siblings also -- we just want to make sure they have a good Christmas.”
But school leaders say two teachers in particular-- Kelly Ellis and Stacy Lazo-Deiss -- have led the push for presents.
“We felt there was a need and we just decided to run with it,” Ellis said.
Lazo-Deiss said, “As moms and people who care about kids, that's what it’s all about for us.”
