Are you at a standstill about what to get that gardener friend or loved one for Christmas? Here are some great suggestions.
It's amazing how when you shop at a lawn and garden center, there is always something new for the gardener. First of all, consider many of the uniquely designed bird feeders out there. They must have a different design for each of the dozens of birds species visiting your landscape. It used to be that a bird feeder was of one design, but check out the variety now. Remember, Christmas is not too late to start feeding birds, but don't stop until spring time comes.
Another great gift idea for the stocking is one of those soil test meters. At about $15, it's a great tool to stick in the ground and get an immediate reading of the plant nutrients in the soil. For farmers, it's a true money saver tool to grow better pasture, hay and many row crops.
Now, for the gardener who wants to brighten up his/her landscape, why not consider some of those uniquely designed stepping stones. Most of the time, they are for decoration rather than physically stepping on.
Then, there are those beautiful reflecting balls that stand on a pedestal. They come in a rainbow of colors and make a great conversation piece for your gardener friends.
Last but not least, gardeners can't get too many books. Check out the larger book stores or even your lawn and garden centers. Many of the gardening books now hone in on specific gardening hobbies like perennials, ornamental grasses and flower gardening.
