Whether you like it or not, the time to mow your grass is just around the corner. If you look at most of the lawns in the region, they are starting to green up.
Here are a few hints before you have to pull the rope for the first time on your mower this year.
Throughout the fall and winter there might be some objects that arrived in your lawn that's needs to be removed. So, a walk in your lawn to gather up possible air born projectiles when you mow is a must for safety reasons.
When you do remove the mower from storage this spring, you might want to do a few maintenance chores on it before mowing the first time.
Take care of the fuel first. It certainly wouldn't be a smart move to use the old fuel that was sitting in the mower over the winter. It also wouldn't be a good idea to use any of the fuel in the gas can either especially if it of the gas oil mixture.
If you haven't changed the spark plug in years, that might be a no brainer chore first. Don't forget to remove the spark plug wire first before sharpening the mower blade.
The housing under the mower needs to be clean and free of any material. This will certainly improve the mowers ability to effectively cut the grass blades.
Keep in mind that grass clippings don't create thatch.
