CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Pierre's Ice Cream Company is expanding a
recall to West Virginia and Kentucky.

The Cleveland, Ohio-based company said Thursday that 56-ounce
packages of its Homestyle Brand of Dutch chocolate ice cream may
contain peanut butter cups, which aren't listed as an ingredient.

People with peanut allergies or severe sensitivity could develop
life-threatening health problems if they eat the ice cream, though
Pierre's says no illnesses have been reported.

Pierre's says the ice cream was distributed in West Virginia,
Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, western Pennsylvania and Indiana. The
containers have the code 07320 printed on the rim of the lid.

Pierre's says consumers should discard the ice cream and return
the lid for a refund.

Consumers with questions can call 1-216-432-1144.

First the comic strip Peanuts creator Schultz dies, and now this national epidemic. Who next ? Jimmy Carter ?

Anonymous, before you criticize us, you'd better learn how to spell grammar, realize that West Virginia isn't one word and learn how to use a period. Also, do something about those run-on sentences.

Something's wrong with this ice cream. It made my tongue go numb. Very cold.

wayne, you need to grow up, some have such a severe peanut allergy that opening a container could harm them, and what about children, think about that!

Looks like to be really safe. Everyone is going to have to turn back times and go back to living like our ancestors. Raise all our food and animals, to where we know what ingredients we're putting in our bodies. Before there were any recalls, or so many foreign hands preparing our food products and meals.

I think that it is dumb to recall all that ice cream because it " may " contain peanut butter cups. Slap a warning or a caution sign on the shelf in front of it. If people are to dumb to read it then that's their fault. Don't waste good food over something so silly. Give it to homeless shelters or something. I mean there are people out there who doesn't have anything to eat. That could use it. Instead of throwing it away because of Peanut Butter Cups!!!!!!!

everyone is going to die from eating!!! AHH!

Posted by: aj on Feb 23, 2008 at 02:09 AM
I totally agree with A. We shouldn't be complaining that they actually informed us and it was wasn't something that was contaminated with something other than peanut butter cups

Posted by: cosmo on Feb 22, 2008 at 09:10 PM
another recall? why don't they just recall all the food back, I would bet they are a lot of us who could stand to lose a few pounds. I know I could.

Posted by: A on Feb 22, 2008 at 03:26 PM
Hey they are only recalling it because it has peanut butter cups. Its not like its rotten or contaminated, the peanut butter cups might actualy make it taste better who knows. But its very nice of them to recall it for those with these allergies, they arent just recalling it for the fun of it, so get off it and stop your whining.

People shouldn't be allowed to be allergic to peanuts or peanut butter... It's a conspiracy I tell you... LOL
