DETROIT, Mich (NBC) - General Motors has recalled more than 200,000 cars because of oil leaks. That can cause fires.

The recall affects 1997-2003 Buick Regal GS and Pontiac Grand Prix GPD Models.

Oil can leak onto the exhaust manifold if a driver hits the brakes hard.

GM says the cars are safe to drive, but drivers should avoid parking them in garages or carports.

GM will notify owners when parts to fix the problem are available.
