SPENCER, W.Va. (RCHS) -- One Roane County family lives in the past every time they participate in a Rendezvous. A Rendezvous is an event where people come together to reenact pioneer life.
Jackson Greathouse, one reenactor, says life at a Rendezvous is authentic right down to the fire. Jackson and his family attend several such events each year. Greathouse has won several competitions in muzzleloader shooting and the family has also had roles in three movies. One of which was produced by Roane County High School teacher Judy Miller.
Their next Rendezvous will be May 7-11 on Blennerhassett Island. Greathouse expects the event to include 25-30 lodges with 2 to 5 people per lodge. This has been made a family affair by the Greathouses and son Caleb Greathouse is following in his father's footsteps. He too has won shooting competitions and enjoys the time he spends reenacting the past.
