HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Is it a case of refusing to give up the fight for Hillary in the primary, or laying the groundwork now for the Democratic Party this November?
That's what may be asked about the Clinton family's continued campaigning through West Virginia.
Despite the political pundits who say the math clearly adds up for Barack Obama; from Hillary to Bill to Chelsea, the Clintons won't back down.
It's known as the cult of personality. Someone who is larger than life can leave a huge impression. Presidential types usually fall into that category.
That is exactly what former President Bill Clinton counted on as he shook hands with people, stumping for votes for his wife, Hillary, in Madison, West Virginia. It was part of a 10 city, two day tour through the state.
But beyond the primary, and even beyond a campaign for Hillary, maybe all this barnstorming, in the face of what many now call impossible math for the Clinton campaign, is to set up the Democratic Party for November, no matter who wins the nomination.
If Barack Obama does win the nomination, a potential endorsement from not only the conceding candidate herself, but her husband may go a long way.
If he's good enough for the former president, who smiled at you and shook your hand at Wayne High School, or took the time to stop and say "hi" to your child at Kermit Elementary and Middle, he might be good enough to get your vote.
However, this, of course, is all just a political philosophy. Until we actually hear a concession speech, the campaign speeches will apparently keep going full tilt.
