HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia's average gasoline price jumped 7 cents over the weekend to a new record of $3.62/gallon of regular unleaded.
AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report showed the natioanl average also hit a new record Monday of $3.50/gallon.
The average in Kentucky is $3.45/gallon, while Ohians pay an average of $3.39/gallon. Locally in Ohio, we've seen the higher end of that spectrum though.
This is roughly 70 cents more a gallon than we were paying one year ago today.
So what does that mean for your daily commute? We broke it down for you.
Say you drive the 50 mile commute between Huntington and Charleston.
If your car gets 35 miles per gallon, it'll cost you about $5.20 to drive each way. This time last year, that same drive only cost you $4.10 each way.
If you drive a bigger car that gets 25 miles per gallon, driving from Huntington to Charleston costs you $7.30.
If you drive a SUV that only gets 15 miles per gallon, that drive will cost you $12.15 one way. Last year, that drive cost $9.65. That's $2.50 less last year.
