CHARLESTON, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin is granting a two-month grace period for truckers to renew truck registrations in the state. The standard deadline is July 1st. Now truckers will have until September 1st to pay up.
"The cost of gasoline has had a profound negative effect on our economy and is hitting everybody’s wallets,” Governor Joe Manchin said. “But for our truckers, the cost of diesel fuel is even higher and it’s directly affecting their ability to stay in business. From a state standpoint, there’s not much we can do about the cost of fuel, but we’re trying to find ways to help the trucking industry.
The extension involves all renewals of Class B, apportioned Class BA and Class X motor vehicles.
Truckers with questions about the extension are encouraged to call the DMV at 1-800-642-9066.
