CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Nearly 50,000 West Virginians have yet to file a tax return with the federal government, which would make them eligible for an economic stimulus check.

Seniors and veterans who didn't file taxes last year have to file a special form by October 15th this year to be eligible.

A breakdown of the 49,340 folks in West Virginia who still need to file indicates that 65% of them are 65 years or older.

If you break it down by county, Kanawha County has the most eligible for the tax rebate check. 5,614 people have yet to file. In Cabell County, 2,542 people still have to file.

We have attached a PDF from the federal government which breaks down the stimulus opportunities county by county.

Well instead of giving the rich or buinesses more money like you did instead of following the presidents order to give married couples 1200. and adults who work 600.00 and each child 300.00 you should go back and have to pay everyone the right way because what bush said to be paid the IRS didn't follow. And you expect us to be honest. ha

Something to think about...mabey many of the seniors who have not filed are afraid to do so because they are concerned about how it will affect their benefits. Maybe more information needs to be made available.

With a name like Anonymous, it will be very difficult to claim your rebate check.

"We have a county by county list of those who have yet to claim their tax rebate from the federal government. Inside: Read the breakdown county by county" Actually, this isn't a list of those who have yet to claim their tax rebates. It's a county by county list of the NUMBERS of people in that county who haven't filed for their rebates. C'Mon WSAZ -

Hey Scott, I was wondering what kind of special form is needed to file for this stimulus money? And what does not filing a return last year have to do with it? The IRS has said that in order to get this money you have to file a tax return for 2007 tax year. Please let us all know more about these special forms and any other helpful info. Thanks
