HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston is the largest city in West Virginia with a little more than 50,000 people. Huntington follows a close second with more than 49,000 people. But you could create a new city -- the third largest in the state -- with the list of West Virginians who have yet to file a tax return to get their economic stimulus check.
"Oh, Lord, I've been retired 30 years," Eleanor Beever told WSAZ.com while thinking about the last time she filed a tax return.
As of today, Ms. Beever can't get her $300 stimulus rebate check because she didn't file a 2007 return. She's just one of the 49,000 plus people living in West Virginia in the same boat.
65% are senior citizens.
Kathy Moore has helped seniors on both sides of the Ohio River with AARP. All is quiet today. It is a far cry from when the local library was packed with seniors at tax time looking for help.
It is important to stress it is not too late. People can file until October.
Your best bet is to check out the IRS website at www.irs.gov to get the forms you need. You can also stop by your local IRS office or ask for help getting those forms at your local library.
