CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- City Holding Company, also known as City National Bank, announced Thursday it would not ask for money in the $700 billion bailout program approved in Congress.

The bailout is intended to help financial institutions get back on steady ground.

"In spite of the difficult financial times facing the U.S. economy, City Holding Company and its subsidiary, City National Bank, remain in a position of extraordinary financial strength," President and CEO Charles Hageboeck stated in a press release.

Hageboeck says City Holding has not stopped actively lending money and the bailout is intended to allow banks to start lending again.

The release for City Holding states that the company wants to be in a good position in case a smaller bank wants to join them.

I anm proud to bank at City National Bank. I financed my home through them and when my auto was paid off at the credit union, I moved both my accounts to CNB. Everyone there has always been very helpful and professional. thanks to all City National Bank employees.

You hear of all these bailouts for companies where is the help for the employees recieving green or pink slips being laid off? Especially before thanksgiving and "CHRIST"mas. And they all have families I'm sure. And their over filing unemployment which sucks for them because they don't give you enough to feed your family or help with the bills. This world is making me sick.

I actually have respect for this bank now.. Its ridiculous how many companys are seeking this money, and arent in any financial situation.. It just makes me sick as a taxpayer on how many greedy companys there are, and all they want is money to take nice vacations, and buy things with company money.. Good job City National, way to set an example!
