Ashland, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The Fourth of July weekend is usually a time when families go away for vacation, but with this year's high gas prices, many people stayed closer to home.
That's good news for Summer Motion in Ashland.
"We've had tremendous crowds," Chuck Charles, President of Summer Motion, said. "We've had a record breaking year this year."
It's made Ashland the new hot spot for a local vacation.
"We're not planning on going anywhere too far, and when there's something like this close to home it's perfect," Ed Sullivan, one of the Summer Motion patrons, said.
Summer Motion organizers also think the attractions this year helped increase crowds.
"There's more and more every year for families to come, bring their kids and just have a good time, and that's basically what Summer Motion's about," Charles said.
