LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jennifer Garner has won a restraining order from a man she says has been stalking her for years.

An attorney for Garner appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday morning and won three years of protection for Garner, husband Ben Affleck and their daughter, Violet.

As first reported by TMZ, Garner petitioned for protection earlier this month from 36-year-old Steven R. Burky, who she says has been harassing her since 2002.

Garner wrote in a sworn statement that she believed Burky's "obsessive, threatening and stalking behavior" posed a threat to her and her family.

The former star of the television series "Alias," Garner has also appeared in recent films such as "Juno" and "The Kingdom." She's a native of Charleston, W.Va.

A little jealous? Why do you you people hate Jennifer Garner so much? Because she got somewhere in life and you didn't?

I agree with wonder, why did she wait for so long to cry "wolf" is this because she new the stalker and didn't want any thing more to do with him...or is it because this gets her in the headlines for publicity's sake, we had a beatuiful little girl in our own back yard who was murdered. only thing she wanted was to finish her schooling and live life to te fullest, stop and think it has nothing to do with going out to dinner, or getting our picure taken.

To sick people: My point wasnt the fact that someone had a stalker, it was the fact that she's a celebrity and b/c of that it's "important" to post on the news...Get over yourself...There are tons of people w/ stalkers and tons of people w/ more important problems! i agree w/ the "concernedcitizen" Jennifer is not better than anyone else! We arent the idiots, you are the idiot.

To sick people If you don't want FANS to take your picture, then don't be an actor/actress....it's all part of the job! That said, stalking is a completely different thing. Hopefully the order of protection will help her. Most people it sure doesn't seem to help.

people need to leave people alone, how would you like it if while you were out trying to have dinner and tons of peple keep asking for your autograph, taking pictures of you and your family, and who knows if the are going to do with the pictures of your daughter, could be some sikco. jennifer way to go , so sorry that you have to go thru this people are idots..

I'm so glad she got one BUT we all know sadly that most of the time such "protection" doesn't work with these nuts or in domestic violence situations This one sounds especially whacko so I hope they can find a way to put him in a rubber room for a long time Just want Jen to know that all of us back here in her homestate are keeping her and her family in our thoughts, hearts & prayers We may not know her personally but she's still one of ours and we want her and her husband and children and entire family to be safe It's a shame that people like these are allowed to harrass and scare other people regardless of whether they're stalking famous people or just ordinary folks Scary situation for sure. I wish her well with this mess and hope this creep either goes away or they lock him up So Jen and Ben, we're all keeping you guys & your babies in our thoughts & prayers May God keep you all safe and well

Wonder why she waited 6 years to get a protective order?

It is a shame that she is being stalked. It also needs to be acknowledged that stalking happens everyday to men and women alike whether they are a celebrity or not. I think it is sad that only when a celebrity is stalked that this life destroying crime makes headlines. It is not romantic. It is not funny. Stop Stalking. It is a crime.
