ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Just when the fear and panic over swine flu seems to have diminished, seasonal flu is starting to show up.

Get ready, folks, for Round Two.

Kristy Bolen is with the Ashland-Boyd County Health Department.

"We are starting to see a little bit of the seasonal flu circulate in the community," she said. "I think it's just going to add to the confusion."

The confusion is easy to understand. The symptoms of the swine flu and seasonal flu are pretty much the same.

"Flu is flu," Bolen says. "The symptoms and, in most cases, the outcome's the same."

The following information is from the the Centers for Disease Control:

You may have the flu if you have one or more of these symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue and sometimes, diarrhea and vomiting. Most people with 2009 H1N1 have had mild illness and have not needed medical care or antiviral drugs, and the same is true of seasonal flu.

That's why Bolen stresses that the seasonal vaccine won't help prevent the swine flu virus and vice-versa. It's recommended, when available, to get both vaccinations this flu season.

The Ashland-Boyd Health Department is taking appointment reservations starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10. Those reservations will be for a vaccine clinic at a later date. A clinic set for Thursday is already booked solid.

Seasonal vaccine is available for people who work and live in Cabell County. A clinic will be set up from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.10, at the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles office in Huntington.
