HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Whole Foods is recalling ground beef sold at some of its stores because of a possible e-coli outbreak. The Texas-based natural and organic foods grocer is recalling fresh ground beef from its stores in 23 states, including Ohio and Kentucky.

The beef was sold between June 2nd and August 6th and processed at a Nebraska plant that has been linked to an e-coli outbreak this summer.

A company spokesperson said people who shopped at stores in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have reported illnesses.

Here is a list of the states affected: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D. C., Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Mis-souri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. Canada is also affected.

You guys need to direct your anger elsewhere. There are crazy drugged idots all around you and you don't see. You'll sit there and tell others they are idiots about this but won't lift a finger to help a truly needy person or charity right in your own back yard!

Wow, you have such a way with words. "You haven't shopped there and can't afford it anyways." I can't stand people like you, who think they have money and need to talk about or flaunt it. I'm pretty sure no one cares if you shop there or not and I'm almost POSITIVE no cares if you bought any of the e-coli infested ground beef with an attitude like yours. Most people in this area are not familiar with chain of stores because it is not very common, And if you did not realize it was a store most people would think it was a brand of food, especially if you are just skimming over the article and not reading it very carefully.

WOW look the very first two words of the article Whole foods is recalling. . . . then at the end OMG it says here is a list of the states affected:

I don't understand why this isn't caught prior to shipment.

Whole foods is a division of foodfair,or at least they control foodfairs meat dep.I would say they got there hands in a few other stores as well!!!

Posted by: Anon on Aug 10, 2008 at 10:09 PM
The store is "Whole Foods", it was stated in the article. It is a natural & organic foods grocer (also stated in the article). The stores are in KY & OH not WV.

Whole foods is the stores that are selling this beef.

Posted by: linda on Aug 10, 2008 at 07:53 PM
Whole Foods only has 1 store in KY and a few in Ohio, they are known as Whole Foods or Fresh Fields...I would not worry about it if you did not get it from the above named stores.

Thanks for the states list, and again I agree--we need the affected stores listed also

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 10, 2008 at 05:48 PM
post the store names and addresses

Posted by: Sue on Aug 10, 2008 at 02:09 PM
It is a store called Whole Foods as stated very clearly in the first sentence of the article. Basically, if you don't know what it is, don't worry about it. You haven't shopped there and can't afford it anyway. (I do shop there but haven't bought ground beef there that I need to worry about.)

Posted by: john on Aug 10, 2008 at 11:22 AM
