WVU Permanently Suspends Fraternity Over Hazing
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia University has one less fraternity. Phi Gamma Delta has been permanently suspended from campus after an alleged hazing incident.
Director of Student Organization Services Ron Justice says the hazing occurred in October, when the fraternity had already been on temporary suspension by both WVU and its national organization.
WVU hasn't made any information about the October incident public, and Justice didn't immediately return a phone message seeking details Tuesday.
The university calls the suspension indefinite and says it comes in consultation with the fraternity's national office. The national organization is expected to vote on the suspension in January.
It's unclear how many members are affected, but WVU says those living at the Belmar Avenue house have until the end of the semester to find new housing.
