HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- More than 2,500 refuse and municipal service fee customers will receive lien letters via certified mail from the City of Huntington, the Mayor’s Office announced Thursday.
These customers have balances in excess of $500 per account and must make payment in full within 90 days to avoid a lien placement against the affected real estate.
Property owners who receive a letter should contact Rossman and Company, the City's collection agency, at 1-800-250-8935 to make payment arrangements.
If customers dispute the debt, they are entitled to an administrative hearing before the Fee Appeal Board. A hearing before the Appeal Board must be requested in writing to the City’s Finance Director within 30 days of receipt of the notice.
This measure is a part of the City of Huntington’s continuing efforts to collect delinquent refuse and municipal service fees. To date, the City of Huntington has collected more than $1.9 million since it began its collection partnership with Rossman and Company in the fall of 2008.
