UPDATE: Almost Five Years in Prison for Shooting in Meigs County
According to court documents, Tania Crawford, 49, of Langsville, made a plea in the Meigs County Common Pleas court Wednesday.

POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- She pleaded to a number of charges stemming from a shooting in Meigs County, Ohio and Friday she was sentenced.

The Meigs County Proseuctor's Office says Tania Crawford, 49, of Langsville, was sentenced to four years and 11 months behind bars.

Crawford pleaded guilty to several charges in April, including six counts of felonious assault, a count of discharging a firearm over a prohibited premises and attempted discharge of a firearm over a prohibited premises.

The charges stem back to August 2010, when the Sheriff's Office said Crawford pulled in front of a home on Dexter Road near Rutland and opened fire, hitting two people.

POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A woman has pleaded to a number of charges stemming from a shooting in Meigs County, Ohio last August.

According to court documents, Tania Crawford, 49, of Langsville, made a plea in the Meigs County Common Pleas court Wednesday.

Crawford pleaded to six counts of felonious assault, a count of discharging a firearm over a prohibited premises and attempted discharge of a firearm over a prohibited premises.

Sheriff Robert Beegle says on August 13, 2010, Crawford was in her yard when a car pulled up in front of her house on Dexter Road, also known as CR 10.

According to the Sheriff, Crawford opened fire, hitting 19-year-old Joshua Price twice. She also shot a female juvenile in the leg.

Crawford will be sentenced in July. She faces a maximum of 59 and a half years in prison, but the state has requested a lower sentence.

Crawford also may have to pay a $115,000 fine.



UPDATE 8/24/10 @ 2:45 p.m.
POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Tania Crawford has been indicted by a Meigs County Grand Jury.

Crawford was indicted on eight counts. They are felonious assault and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.

Her trial is set for November 9.



UPDATE 8/13/10 @ 10:39 a.m.
POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Meigs County Sheriff has released details on a shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

Sheriff Robert Beegle says Tania Crawford, 48, of Langsville, has been arrested and charged with felonious assault.

According to Beegle, Crawford was in her yard, when a car pulled up in front of her house on Dexter Road, also known as CR 10, and stopped.

The Sheriff says that's when she opened fire, wounding two of the four people in the car.

Beegle says the driver went to a nearby house to get help.

The driver of the car, 19-year-old Joshua Price was shot twice . He was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington where he was treated and released..

A female juvenile was also shot in the leg. She was taken to Holzer Medical Center for treatment. No word on her condition.

The Sheriff has not released a motive for the shootings.

Crawford is scheduled to appear in Meigs County Court on Friday.



ORIGINAL STORY 8/13/10 @ 3:49 a.m.
RUTLAND, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Meigs County dispatchers have confirmed that two people were shot early Friday morning, while driving along Dexter Road, near Rutland.

Dispatchers say the two victims survived the shooting, and were taken to the hospital. There's no word on their conditions.

Meigs County deputies have arrested a woman in connection with the shootings.

She got in trouble for shooting into a car on a public road, not in her driveway, or yard they were on a public road. It could have been me or you broke down in front of her house would she have shot us also. Most of you people are full of s__t

I'm a Meigs County native who graduated from MHS in 1976, went on to college and never looked back. Reading these comments I'm pretty sure that, like the majority of my classmates, I did the right thing. Good luck.

she should never have gotten a prison term, probation should have been enough, if a punishment was necessary. Now, the real criminals have gotten away with harassing a family, so what is next? These so called kids will be in even more trouble in the future because they have learned that they can get away with threatening others. It will be interesting to see what else happens. I wonder about how they were raised, the apple doesnt fall far from the tree.
