HUNTINGTON, WVa (WSAZ) ---- A local health team from Huntington is on a medical mission of mercy in the Caribbean nation of Haiti.
Julie Brewer Riffe is a family nurse practitioner. This is her second trip since January. She spoke to WSAZ by phone on Friday, August 13, 2010.
"We're driving by a major tent city and it's gone on for 1/2 a mile here. It's very heartbreaking, the Haitian government has not done a lot for the people of Haiti," she said. "The Haitian people are a beautiful group of people and they have been so appreciative of everything we've done. It's very humbling."
The group of doctors and physical therapists from Huntington is down in Haiti on a mission trip sponsored by Daystar Medical Missions and the Lewis Memorial Baptist Church in Huntington.
The group is scheduled to arrive back the weekend of August 14th.
To learn more about their trip you can find information on Daystar Medical Missions Website.

If you do not want medical care, then do not get it! If you want a service then pay for it! No doctor or nurse has to (or is supose to) do any service for you for free! Why is it that the West Virginian's are obese? Lazy and expect the government and owes them for their lazieness (lazi nest).
I happen to agree with Sunshine.
Hey anonymous...nice spelling. They weren't on vacation, they risked their lives to do this and I'm sure none of them asked to have their name put on TV. They are good Christian people who are sharing God's love with others the best way they know how.
