CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It's an annual tradition that makes Charleston special and most importantly it helps everyone get in to the "neighborly" spirit.

September 1 is Good Neighbor Day at Charleston Cut Flower Company in Charleston.

Mike and Joe Gregg handed out 7,500 roses to people Wednesday, free of charge. The only thing is customers can only keep one of the roses, they have to pass the rest out to their neighbors.

The owners hope the visitors will make 11 new friends in their community to help create a friendlier, more caring and compassionate world, according to a news release.

This is the 16th year Charleston Cut Flower has participated in Good Neighbor Day.
