Shots Fired at Cars Along I-64 in Putnam County
Deputies in Putnam County are trying to figure out who fired shots at two cars along Interstate 64 near the Teays Valley exit.

TEAYS VALLEY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Deputies in Putnam County are trying to figure out who fired shots at two cars along Interstate 64 near the Teays Valley exit.

Putnam County Sheriff Mark Smith says both cars were hit on the driver's side. They were both heading eastbound when the incidents happened late Thursday afternoon.

One car was hit in the rear glass, the other was hit in the cargo area.

Smith says he believes the shots came from a pellet gun, but they haven't found the projectiles that were fired just yet, so they can't be 100% sure.

No one was hurt.

Anyone with information about this is asked to call the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Jerry, you cant be serious. Big deal? What about the animals? What if this was you...would it be a big deal then? Come on...if this is a kid then what happens when he's not caught and told this is wrong and goes to school and shoots somebody. I think we need to worry more about the local kids that need guidance and love because their parents are too busy with pills and drugs. THAT is sad and doesnt get any press. I see this day in and day out.

Jerry are you serious? Clearly you have issues. Shooting at a vehicle going up to 70 miles per hour on the interstate can be lethal!!!! What if there was a dog in the car, would you care then? Get a life dude, you need one.

I am an animal lover as well but your comment is irrelevant to this news article. If a pellet gun was used, then it is obviously strong enough to bust glass out of a car. What would have happened had the driver been someone with a heart condition? They could have possibly had a heart attack and caused fatalities. This could have been a lot worse and luckily the drivers were able to continue driving safely on one of the unsafest interstates in the world. Think before you speak.
