UPDATE 9/6/10 @ 10:30 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon was a rousing success in our region as people opened up their hearts, not to mention their wallets, to donate more than $270,000 by Monday evening.
The Labor Day holiday weekend was extra special for us here at WSAZ.com as we hosted our portion of the telethon in our Huntington studios for 17 straight hours.
WSAZ.com's Stephanie Schelkun, Jessica Ralston and Tony Cavalier helped emcee this year's event, but the success was all because of you -- our viewers.
ORIGINAL STORY 9/4/10
KENOVA, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Volunteer firefighters in Kenova spent their Saturday afternoon raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
They held a boot drive, collecting more than $2,000 for the WSAZ's annual MDA Telethon.
A firefighter will present the check during the telethon on Labor Day.
Firefighters say they would like to thank those who donated for making their donation to MDA possible.
WSAZ's annual MDA Telethon will begin at 11:35 p.m. Sunday after the news. WSAZ will be on the air until 6:30 p.m. Monday raising money for MDA.

i thought me and my mom singing was a cool way to bond together
I was not able to contribute as much monetarily as I would have liked, however, I was able to contribute to the sufferers of this devastating disease by singing along with my daughter, Sydni age 9, (Jesus take the Wheel)to the public, which I hope lifted the spirits of MD suffering families.
Jessica Ralston is so cute! I would have donated anything to her.
