A gravel truck hits the back of school bus sending more than 2 dozen children to the hospital to be checked out.
It happened on KY 197 near Elkhorn City Elementary in Pike County, KY Wednesday afternoon.
Kentucky State Police tell wsaz.com that bus driver was making a stop when the truck rear ended the bus.
We’re told four students and the bus driver were taken by ambulance to Pikeville Medical Center.
Another 14 students were taken by their parents to that same hospital to be checked out. Several other students were taken to a hospital in Jenkins.
There were 54 children riding the bus at the time of the wreck. They attended either Elkhorn Elementary or East Ridge High School.
Pike County Superintendent Roger Wagner tells a local newspaper that one of the students suffered a dislocated hip.
Pikeville Medical Center confirms that one student was admitted and is in fair conditon. The other students were treated and released
Trooper Scott Hopkins says the driver of the gravel truck, Robert Evans of Pike County was cited for “drug related DUI.”

well what makes me so mad there is so many good people unemployed that wouldn't do drugs or drink . and these coal companey and other companys won't hire them. they would rather hire this kind of trash that would get them self hurt our hurt someone else. where is the drug test, have they stop doing them. every body should be drug tested every month. you would see this stuff not happing because they would think twice of doing it cause they couldnt pass the drug test, and if they do ,they should be fired on the spot, and not giveing thier job back. and then they should give that job to a good familey man. that wants to feed his familey, not buy drugs. i am thankful no one was killed on that school bus. the lord was with them. love and prayers to all.
Another DUI, this one drug related. Driving of all things a huge truck while under the influence! I hope he gets fined and time for each child on that bus and that he gets it consecutively not concurrently!
there was a lot more than 54 kids i think on the bus one boy was si=etening in the back and got cought in between 2 seats and poped his hips out of place and had one sugery when he got there and then another one tonight and the other boy didnt brake his shoulder and he had some very deep bruising and has to go to a orthapedic docter for about 3 to 4 days
