I am very sadden to see the store gone, and I am so grateful that everyone is OK. People have no clue what an impact this little store has made in our lives and the lives of people in our community. Ray and Char has always been great to everyone in Harts over the years, lots of people, my family included would have done without had it not been for them. They aren't asking for help or donations, but I am sure they appreciate everything done for them and what has been give to them. Building a business over has huge demands and whether they decide to or not I hope everyone understands and supports them. And yes I am hoping for the possibility, but if not thats OK too. And far as the remarks about the firemen, there were massive concerns, such as our gas pumps, oil, natural gas, flammables, and etc that the fire more than likely was near before they got there. It was very dangerous for them and the on-lookers. Everyone should be thankful and pray for the Smith's.

Harts Fire Dept is one of the most outstanding fire departments in the county...I am proud to get to work with them, I love Chief Lucas and the rest of those boys and respect them immensely.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Smith family during this time of tragedy. This is a sad loss for the whole community. As a member of the Harts community, I proudly support the Harts Volunteer Fire Department. You all did a great job in maintaining the safety of everyone involved. Chief Lucas has proven his excellent leadership skills time and time again. This department is made up of volunteers who dedicate their time to serve and protect our community. Most of the volunteers also hold full time employment and still do an outstanding job of serving not only our community, but the surrounding communities as well when they are called to duty. They make tremendous sacrifices for all of us, including the bad seeds within the county that unfortunately feel the need to impose negative comments toward these loyal volunteers. I for one thank all of you for your commitment and devotion. A big thanks goes to each of the departments that responded in our time of need.

I'm sorry for your loss and only wish I could have been there sooner to help out. I came straight from my workplace to the scene, I know that this was a big blow to the community and the services that were provided by the store will be greatly missed. I hope plans for rebuilding are already in motion!

I feel really sorry for the loss that everyone faced up there. These wonderful people lost there means of of living completely, home, jobs and all. Not to mention the employees, my mother works there and have for more than 6 years and going to Rays was like going home for me. Everyone there treated me like family, especially Ray and Char. I love them so much and I am so thankful they have been so good to me and my family.

I am proud of the Harts Volunteer Fire Dept. Especially Chief Lucas. It takes a dedicated and upstanding person to work so far away and travel a great deal for just a couple of days to be home and spend most of his time at the fire dept taking care of business or on a call helping someone in need. It sounds like dirty politics that would make anybody have a negative comment about the Harts Fire Dept. We need them and they sacrifice alot to help others and to have a positive outlook for the community. Thank God for good Harts "Creekers" We are proud of you!

I just wanted to say how sad it is to see a piece of history go. Ray's was a place that all of the community took pride in and went to when they just wanted a bite to eat, a friendly face to talk with, or a tank of gas. I also wanted to say THANKS to the HARTS fire department, as well as all those who helped with the fire. Those young men risked their lives to save a building, thank the Lord everyone is safe. For those of you who say they were "roasting marshmellows" you should be ashamed of yourself. They did the best they could, and someday it may be your life, home, or family member they may come to save. So say a prayer for them and thank them for what they do, instead of find faults. God Bless to ALL!

To CREEKER. I am an officer of the Harts Volunteer fire dept. You have no clue what you are talking about. Chief Lucas does not live in New York City. He has been working out of state but, is home atleast 3 days out of the week. Second of all, if you don't think Chief Lucas or any of the rest of us on the dept. do a good enough job why don't you come down and join the dept. and try to improve upon what we do. Most people like you don't realize the price we pay to be a firefighter. We leave our families at a moments notice to put our lives on the line to save life and property. We deal with death and tragedy with everything we do. So before you put down our Chief, our dept. or any firefighter for that matter you should give it a try yourself. Also, I would like to thank all the departments involved in this incident you was of great help to our department. Thank you!!!

That was a heck of a fire....and those firefighters did a heck of a job...they had just got this fire out and had another one about a mile away..which they knocked out in no time....these boys are awesome....couldn't ask for a better bunch of firefighters.

Very sad to hear about the Smith's loss. This was a great place to grab a bite to eat and a very friendly staff. Again, sorry about your loss, and I hope you can rebuild. God Bless.
