UPDATE: JANUARY 26
From the Associated Press:
The director of the State Police Crime Lab says DNA tests are ongoing on evidence in the death of Marshall University journalism student Leah Hickman.

Soraya McLung says the lab has finished testing the first set of evidence sent by Huntington police investigators. But she says tests on a second set of evidence are not finished.

McLung and Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook declined to say what is being tested.

But Holbrook says detectives hope the tests lead them to a suspect.

Hickman was last seen alive Dec. 14. Her body was found in a basement crawl space in the Huntington apartment building where she lived Dec. 21.

While tests are continuing, Holbrook says detectives continue to question people and have eliminated some suspects.

Dec. 28: No Suspects in Leah Hickman Murder Case

“At this time, we don't have a definite suspect. The best way to answer is no one has been excluded,” Huntington Police Sergeant Rocky Johnson said.

That's frustrating for Sgt. Johnson who's been working the Leah Hickman case around the clock since the day she was reported missing two weeks ago.

“We've gone back and interviewed previous tenants from way back, the landlord, maintenance people, the mailman, anyone who's been in that building,” Sgt. Johnson said.

There’s still been nothing, though. Sgt. Johnson says it was because of good police work that they found her body by checking and re-checking their footsteps.

“Started at basement and worked our way up,” Sgt. Johnson said, “There were no tips. It came to our forensic guys and different types of search lead to the body.”

While police don't mind talking about how they found her body, the condition it was in, how it got there and what lead to her death in the first place are all still very much hush-hush.

“You don't want to taint witnesses, potential jurors, don't want false confessions,” Sgt. Johnson said.

Meanwhile, the Dress Barn continues its strong support. They're giving the $10,000 they originally put up as a reward for information to find Leah to the family now to pay funeral expenses. Saturday employees from other stores will come in to work that one in Barboursville, so Leah’s co-workers can attend the funeral.

The big question is why all of this for a young woman who worked here for less than six months? The store's response was after day one at the Dress Barn, you're family and they treat all of their employees as such.

Sgt. Johnson says as mysterious as this case has turned, there's no reason for any paranoia or even fear.

“It's hard to say if she was targeted,” Sgt. Johnson said.

Huntington police continue to ask for you to call in with any leads no matter how minor or insignificant you may think they are.

Leah's funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Army National Guard Armory in Pt. Pleasant.

It's been a week since police found Leah's body in a crawl under her building and still no developments in her murder case, but police say their lack of leads isn't for lack of trying.

MONDAY
Huntington Police have positively identified the body of a woman found Friday in the crawlspace of a Huntington apartment building as that of Leah Hickman. Hickman's body was found late Friday afternoon.

Police made the announcement at a scheduled news conference Monday afternoon. Police say they have recovered evidence from Hickman's apartment building but are releasing little additional information.

Police say they have no suspects at this time and continue to conduct interviews. Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook would not comment if investigators were looking out of state.

Stay tuned to WSAZ.com for the latest information on the case.

Saturday Afternoon
Investigators removed a woman's body from Hickman's apartment building around 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Huntington police will not hold a press conference Saturday, but they are expected to release the woman's identity once they get a positive ID.

The next media briefing on the investigation is scheduled for 2pm Monday.

Saturday Morning
This morning a new shift of police and detectives has arrived at an apartment where a body, believed to be Leah Hickman, has been found.

Huntington police, a forensics team and the FBI spent the night and early morning searching for clues where she lived on 8th Avenue.

The body remains in the house.

BREAKING NEWS: FRIDAY NIGHT

Huntington Police found what they believe to be the body of missing Marshall University student Leah Hickman. Huntington Police made the announcement at a news conference Friday night.

Police found the body of a young adult female matching the description of Leah Hickman in the crawlspace of her apartment building. Police forensic teams are currently examining the body and the crime scene for evidence. Hickman's apartment was on the second floor. Police say the crawlspace was accessible from several areas.

Forensic investigators began concentrating on the basement laundry area of Hickman's apartment building Friday afternoon.

"It's a tragic situation." said Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook.

Police say they have no suspects. Hickman was last seen last Friday. Her family reported her missing on Sunday after she failed to show up for work.

Investigators found the body around 5pm.

State Police and investigators rushed to Hickman’s apartment in Huntington late Friday afternoon. Police have taped off a large area around Hickman's apartment and blocked off surrounding streets.

We have a crew on the scene and will update this story as new information becomes available.

Stay tuned to WSAZ NewsChannel 3 and wsaz.com for the latest on this developing situation.

Thursday Night
Police confirmed Thursday that one of the doors on Leah Hickman’s car was slightly open when they began the investigation. Police are not’t sure yet where that fits into the time line of events, but they did release a time line of events for the day Leah went missing:

TIMELINE
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14
4:00pm - Leah was finishing the dishes, according to her sister who last saw her.

5:40pm - A receipt found in a trashcan shows that Leah ate at McDonald's.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15
5:00pm - Leah was scheduled to work at the dress Barn, but didn't show up.

--------
Now, friends, family, and co-workers are passing out fliers with Leah’s photo and description.

Police are still checking every lead. Signs of detective work, the fingerprinting dust, is still visible on Leah’s car. Hickman's sister says Leah had six coats and one is missing.

“It was tannish-brown with a fur collar,” her sister said.

“We'll be working on it from now as long as we have to take it,” Sergeant Williams with the Huntington Police Department said.

Jessica said she remembers the last time she spoke to her sister.

“I was here at the door. I said 'see ya sister' just like I’d done a hundred times,” she said.

The FBI has now joined in on the investigation -- and we're told police have interviewed a dozen people about the case.

In just the past few days there has been a lot of national coverage on this case. Leah’s sister was interviewed Thursday night on CNN.

Thursday Morning
Students and friends set up a candelight vigil for Thursday night at the Memorial Student Center for Leah Hickman. It starts at 6pm and everyone is invited.

Wednesday
On Wednesday, WV State Police and Huntington Police spent about an hour searching buildings and homes in and around the 400 block of 8th avenue where Leah Hickman lived.

Hickman is 21 and was last seen at 4 p.m. on Friday in her Huntington apartment. She lives at 403 8th Ave. with her sister, Jessica Vickers. According to the police report Hickman’s purse and keys were inside her apartment and her car was still parked.

Police say there hasn’t been any cell phone calls from her phone since Friday. Police have contacted friends and family, but no one has seen or heard from Hickman.

A number of the homes in the area have been abandoned and officers are paying particular attention to these structures. Two supervisors with the detective bureau are spearheading this investigation. They canvassed the neighborhood looking for any clues that could lead them to Leah Wednesday. They searched alleys, yards and abandoned homes for any clues and police say time is of the essence with a missing persons case.

Hickman has shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes. She's 5'2" and 130 pounds.

Katie Hay is on a mission to find her friend.

“We have people in Charleston looking, MySpace, Facebook. We're checking allies and knocking on doors.” Katie said.

Hickman's college friends say they're determined to find Leah. They're hitting local businesses. They're also using the web to drum up support for national media coverage.

All these efforts aren't going unnoticed by Leah’s father.

“I want to thank Leah’s friends for all their hard work they've done and for praying for us for strength,” Leah’s father Ron Hickman said, “More exposure we get, better chance to find my daughter.”

Leah's sister, Jessica talked live via telephone on MSNBC Wednesday morning. Leah's friends are going at this full force. They've covered a lot of territory and they say they won't stop until they find their friend.

Leah's step-father says the family is holding on to hope.

“All I got is hope and prayers. What else can you do?” Leah’s step father Brian Russell said.

There is a $10,000 reward from Leah’s employer, The Dress Barn. The money will be given to anybody who has information that can help police find Leah.

A candlelight vigil is set for 6 p.m. Thursday night at the student center fountain on Marshall’s campus.

Anybody with information that can help police find Leah Hickman should call the Huntington Police Detective Bureau at (304) 696-4420.

I have been watching this case from day one. I can't believe that nothing has been done and I mean NOTHING!!! Leah seemed like a bright, caring, young woman and I hate that I never got the chance of meeting her. As for the police department...shame on you!!!! You can't tell me you have nothing on this case. This is so sad! Wish I could do something about this. I have tried contacting Nancy Grace but don't seem like I did any good. To the family and friends of Leah...I am so sorry for your loss and I think of you all alot...wishing you all the very best from south arkansas and hoping you get justice soon!

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 29, 2008 at 11:56 PM
Still thinking of you, Leah, and praying your soul sees justice. Prayers still and always for the Hickman family and all of Leah's friends. It is absolutely disgusting that the HPD has not commented on this case other than to say she was strangled. They're hoping everyone will just forget and won't think of them as bumbling idiots. Well-sorry, but I do. The public who is concerned and following this case, and most certainly her family, and MOST of all Leah, deserve better than this. To me, from an objective point of view, it says to Leah that you don't care, that her death meant nothing and that's very very sad. But heck, what can anyone expect, when it took you a week to find her right in her own apartment building?? No matter how it's explained away, that is horrible investigating, obviously - that apartment should have been searched from top to bottom in the first 24 hours. HPD, you have not made a very good impression on the watching public. Shame on you.

To the Hickman family. I just want to let you know that you are still in my thoughts and prayers. I am praying that there will be a resolution so that you can somehow begin to move on. God Bless you. Leah is NOT forgotten.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 23, 2008 at 11:43 PM
I can't beleive this case has not been solved, seems to me Huntington being a college town that the HPD would be working a little harder to solve this case. Everyday there is something terrible going on in Huntington, why Andy and Barny could do better than this

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 17, 2008 at 02:49 AM
I'm sick that nothing has been done yet. This family needs justice!!!

The police were notified hour's later to come, but it was to late. Our Police forces are not funded enough money to investagate this murder case, and the murder's will go free. Please help are family by making this story Headlines. For more information contact Lori Cockran at 1-660-479-5764. Thankyou.

Anonymous: What young man? I don't see any post from yesterday. I am, sadly, now convinced that the HPD has nothing-nearly 6 months - whomever it is got away with it. The fact that they don't update the public and say they have nothing is disgusting. They're hoping everyone will just forget. I will never forget Leah and will continue to pray that somehow her soul sees justice eventually.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 29, 2008 at 09:19 PM
I sent a comment yesterday regarding Leahs death and neglected to give an approximate age of the young man. He is between 19 and 23 years of age. My prayers are with her family.

Please give us more information. We need closure, Heaven knows the family needs more than that. Don't give up on this case. If there is anything we can do to move things along-no doubt you'll have plenty of quality assistance. Sherry, Ron, and other family members please have faith - our prayers & love goes out to the whole family that is grieving.

Posted by: anonymous on Mar 24, 2008 at 12:05 AM
Not even any new comments - I'm really hoping that people don't just give up and forget -that's what the HPD is hoping everyone will do :( Leah deserves better than being murdered, stuffed in a crawl space, then buried and forgotten -she and her family and friends deserve justice.

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 15, 2008 at 11:11 PM
I'm amazed that the FBI testing will take at least three more months - WHY has this case been put on the back burner and of lower priority than other cases? That will make it a total of SIX months for test results. If they even come through in three more months - chances are in three months, they'll tell us three more - seems their tactic is just give us a little bone and quiet us down for awhile.

Posted by: To WOW #2 on Mar 14, 2008 at 04:31 PM
It was on the news cause tons of people i know were watching it when it came on! I guess you werent watching it the whole time

Posted by: To WOW on Mar 13, 2008 at 06:45 PM
To Wow at 3:41pm: I have watched this case since DAY 1 and I have never heard anything about Leah being strangled. Nothing in this message board says that she was strangled so I was just wondering how you knew it?

Posted by: Wow on Mar 13, 2008 at 03:41 PM
I watched the News Event! Everyone that follows the case knows that she was strangled and someone that knew her did it.. Thanks WSAZ for holding them to a conference but they said NOTHING except that the FBI testing will take @ least three more months. I would say the only way they will catch the killer is by a confession. This message only says that who ever did is going to get by with it. I don't know Nancy Grace but perhaps the News could interview her and see what she has to say?? Has someone she loves been a victim? Perhaps she can get some public attention and speed up this Crawl investigation. Time is a key element is a murder case. I would be heartbroken if Leah's killer was never found. Maybe the HPD's needs to change their team players to pump up the investigation. This is not just Huntington WV it is a College town. We don't want updates we want someone to nail this person and soon!

Posted by: Hope on Mar 13, 2008 at 02:27 PM
Chief Holbrook "comfortable saying it's not random that we believe she knew her killer". I hope the killer is itching and scratching. It's just a matter of time.

Posted by: thankful on Mar 13, 2008 at 01:16 PM
I am so glad you are going to release something. This is a tradgedy that effects everyone in our community. Whatever we find out will be better that the nothing we have been getting. Thanks for staying involved with this case after almost 3 months-Our hearts were growing faint that she would be forgotten, but thankfully prayers were heard and we know that something has to have been revealed. We will continue to pray and hope for justice in this case. Thanks to the HPD for not giving up despite all the negatives, we appreciate you hard work. Keep it up!

I've been livid about the seeming lack of diligence in solving this case for months now. This morning, on my way to work, I heard a news bite that police were still waiting on test results. Now, this afternoon there is supposed to be a press conference saying something different?I have this disgusting feeling in my stomach that we are going to again hear that there is no information and no leads.

Posted by: Hope on Mar 13, 2008 at 10:28 AM
WSAZ - are you comfortable on your claim that this is "continuing coverage" or "stories we're following"? I've been very happy with WSAZ's covering of court cases recently (Merrifield). I'd really like to see the enthusiasm WSAZ had for that case be applied to Leah's. I beg WSAZ to do some real investigative journalism to honor one who wanted to be one of your own. Come on, find out what is taking soooooo long. Better yet, do some of your own investigations!!! Stop listening to HPD -- I'm sure they're asking you to not interfere. What are they afraid of?

Posted by: Joe on Mar 13, 2008 at 09:26 AM
I bet if the Marshall students had a walk out and put a little financial pressure on the city of Huntington things would get hopping. I cringe every time it gets dark and my daughter is in Huntington.

Posted by: Roesebud on Mar 13, 2008 at 07:18 AM
Perhaps the Police Dept. should contact the reporters stalking Britney Spears, She cannot even go outside without someone knowing about it.I don't think being rich has anything to do with finding a killer it is the media and the family that continue the search (as Natalie Hallaways mother she stops @ nothing even miles to Aruba)that finds and convicts. Most police dept. work on a shoestring budget with very few resources that is the justice system in America. Perhaps America should rise up and lobby Congress to fund our Police systems instead of taking care of all the other countries in the world and care for business @ home. Remember America's Most wanted started by the father of Adam Walsh. As for anyone saying let it go and get a life they must remember that Leah was someones life. I follow the story because this for some reason Leah's story has touched my life and I do not want her killer to go free and she should not die in vain. It seams that she wanted to make a difference!

Posted by: Kelly on Mar 12, 2008 at 06:39 PM
This is so sad! Im outraged why is this case not on Americas Most Wanted, Fox news or any other news? Was this girl wealthy? I bet if she was it would be all over the news. There is a MURDER on the loose! Lady's watch your self. i think this was botched from the begining why did it take so long to find her under her own home c'mon the police should have searched her home high and low the first day she went missing.

Posted by: crystal on Mar 12, 2008 at 03:10 PM
Ok, we need some new information! This girl is family to a friend of mine. I could only imagine what they must be going through, Waiting to hear something. BTW- ANYONE who thinks we should "let it go" needs to "GET A LIFE" you should think about your family when you think about this girl, and what has happened. You could have easily been in her shoes or her family's !!

Posted by: Tired of waiting on Mar 12, 2008 at 01:51 PM
I agree with "justice!," if WSAZ isn't going to be updating this story then it really isn't continuing coverage is it? What is the hold up in this case? Why is this death any different than those of the two recent murders of students down south? Leah was a human being and deserves some sort of justice. I'd at least like some sort of report telling whether the Huntington PD is still working on this case at all.

Posted by: angryinohio on Mar 11, 2008 at 05:46 PM
to the MU student who said let it go...Let it go???? Just let it go and forget about it? That's just what the HPD is hoping everyone's attitude will be. A beautiful young girl's life ended for no reason should never just be "let go."

Posted by: justice! on Mar 11, 2008 at 04:59 PM
This is silly! You should just remove this story from news you are following...I don't see WSAZ doing any kind of following up on this story...How hard is it to pick up the phone call the police department and ask them if they have any new information on this case, if they do publish what you get, if they don't publish that they don't know anything!! Not too hard!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 11, 2008 at 02:33 PM
This is driving me nuts. When will the public hear any updates!?

Posted by: John on Mar 11, 2008 at 12:48 PM
I think they are hoping this will go away. They still have not solved the murder of 4 in the ghetto over 2 yrs ago. This is a disgrace. Call nancy grace to turn up the heat on the losers at the HPD.

Posted by: Olivia on Mar 11, 2008 at 12:11 PM
What good is it going to do to picket the Police Department? As much as we all hate it, if they don't have a suspect or any evidence that will hold up in court, the only thing that picketing will do is prevent the police from catching other criminals they CAN prosecute and prohibiting them from protecting US. I hope Leah’s killers are caught very, very soon as well, but until the police can come up with SOLID evidence, an arrest will do no good except waist valuable time trying to find evidence that will hold up in court and sent the person(s) who killed Leah to jail.

WSAZ PLEASE FIND OUT SOMETHING EITHER THEY KNOW OR THEY DONT MY GOSH ITS BEEN SO LONG THIS FAMILY AND COMMUNITY NEEDS ALOT OF ANSWERS JUST LET THE PUBLIC KNOW A LITTLE WHATS GOING ON EVEN IF THEY DONT KNOW ANYTHING!!!!!

Posted by: Sharon on Mar 10, 2008 at 10:43 PM
I agree with "Ashley" This is so unjust for Leah." I think the community should come together and picket the Huntington City Police Department. We could get thousands of people together and stand around the police Department and the City Hall and the Sheriff's Department and the State Police Department, and swear we are not leaving until the case is solved. What do we have to do to get this case solved? The police need to tell us SOMETHING!!!!!! This is so frustrating. They put so much emphasis on little petty crimes, and don't even care that such a wonderful little girl was killed in the prime of her life!!!! Shame, Shame, Shame on the Huntington Police Department!!

Posted by: Ashley on Mar 10, 2008 at 02:53 PM
I'm very disappointed in the way this case has been handled. Not only by the HPD, but by WSAZ and the Herald Dispatch as well. It is the job of the news media to be the watch dog for society as a whole. I feel that both newsmedia groups have failed to keep this topic from growing cold. Simply keeping a site open for reader comments does not constitute "continuing coverage". I feel that the reader comments, in fact, the voice of the public is going ignored by the media and the HPD. I would love to believe that there is still an active investigation going on, but it has been soooo long. I fear that even the media is praying be all forget. This is so unjust for Leah.

Posted by: Tara on Mar 10, 2008 at 10:52 AM
I feel that the answers will come with time but they may not be the answers everyone is looking for. You can't rush lab results. As for MU being involved, it didn't happen on their campus so they don't have any say or access to where the crime happened or to the evidence found. I know that the staff of MU is concerned over this as well.

Posted by: anonymous on Mar 9, 2008 at 08:55 PM
Maybe Marshall needs to get their nose involved. you state a New Forensic, i say prove yourself or lose your future students. This was a MU student we as the parents of students would like to see your concern. Is MU is big enough to put the pressure on! I for one will not send another child to Huntington.

Posted by: Raven on Mar 9, 2008 at 04:57 PM
This has gone on for way to long. At first I said give the HPD the time they need, but we havn't heard anything new for so long I really begining to doubt if they have anything. Test results should be back in by now. We do not need all the nasty little details but would like to have an update every now and then. When can we expect an arrest?

Posted by: Donna on Mar 8, 2008 at 12:22 PM
I agree.... someone should contact Nancy Grace.

Posted by: ANON on Mar 8, 2008 at 11:40 AM
Good lord I don't want to know the condition the body was in. That is kind of ghoulish isn't it? There are specifics that I agree should be released but not grisly details.

Posted by: Joe on Mar 7, 2008 at 03:30 PM
Just a stall tactic hoping everyone goes on with their daily lives. Huntington does not have the money to do a proper investigation on this case. I wish they would start a fund to hire a private investigator. Nothing against HPD, they are underfunded and undermanned.

Posted by: AR on Mar 7, 2008 at 01:38 AM
TO RALPHIE... What does that have to do with letting the public know what condition her body was in.It has nothing to do with a suspect watching the news.It would let everyone know what happened if they even know.theres a difference about a suspect and what happened to her.Cause the suspect already knows what happened and we should to!!

Posted by: hunt.res. on Mar 6, 2008 at 07:12 PM
someone should contact Nancy Grace.

Posted by: Ralphie on Mar 6, 2008 at 02:45 PM
The results are back, but the general public will not be advised of the findings because bad guys/girls watch the news too. Why would any department release information that any potential suspect could use in their defense, DUH

Posted by: beth on Mar 6, 2008 at 02:44 PM
I personally believe that soon we have to hear something. Justice must be served in this case. My heart still goes out to the family and friends. My prayer is that someone will tell us something soon. Without info speculation makes the mind wander in every direction. We need answers soon, so that all can have some peace.

Posted by: me on Mar 6, 2008 at 08:59 AM
what is the hold up on this case I guess we will have to get Fox, Cnn,Msnbc to try to get answers It hasnt been a word since January. I dont think it takes almost 2 months to get tests results back.

WHo wants to bet that we get information on the Auburn student-(probably solved) before another single piece of information is released to hopefully Leah's family or the people of Huntington! Don't respond mentioning CSI/HPD I don't think anybody is comparing the HPD and tactics seen on CSI - That's like comparing Pavoratti and Sanjaya---there is none!!

The reason that this homicide is still unsolved is because last I heard (which was a couple of weeks ago) the tests still hadn't been sent out to the independent labs.

Monica, I am sure your dad is a good officer because there are some who are. HOWEVER, those on the detective bureau need to really get cracking (pardon the pun) on this particular case and relieve some fears.

If the police indeed DO have a suspect, I surely hope to goodness they are tailing him/her. I would hate to think that if they have a suspect, the HPD are no letting this ogre walk the streets and live a life that Leah could not. No, duh, the police don't have a suspect.

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 4, 2008 at 09:13 AM
Why does everyone keep pointing fingers here. Someone killed this poor girl, but it is not the HPD's fault. Let them do thier job and perhaps they have a suspect but can't disclose that information to the public!

I think when this is solved..if ever..this killer has been right under their noses right from the beginning...whether it be family of friend..

Im afraid they are just going to forget all about her and her family! To much time has gone by.! :(

It is a sad fact that there are a lot of unsolved murders across our nation. Real life is not "law and order" "csi" etc. Yes the family deserves answers. And HPD will provide them when appropriate. Bad guys watch the news too, why give him/her inside information in order for them to shore up their lies. HPD has its problems, but bashing them is not helping this case, or the family.

I am really disappointed, to say the least, that the HPD has not found the killer of this young girl. I am still holding unto hope that they will solve this....I just don't know. (sigh)

This is so frustrating. A young woman murdered in mid-December and still no suspects at the beginning of March. No news on the case at all since January 26. I'm sure the police have their reasons for not releasing information, but isn't it high time that someone is brought to justice for the death of this young woman?

Thanks for all the prayers!! Leah was a wonderful girl and a blessing to be around. She brought a smile to my face every time I seen her. I will always love her and miss her.

hi monica i dont think anyone cares what your really tired of i really dont think the killer will ever be found either but the sad part for me is that leah was my cousin i understand that you feel the need to protect your father but im sorry to say that i and almost everybody else in wv feel that they dropped the ball now if that was your family member how would you feel but then again you do have connections so you may actually get to look the monster in the eye had it been your family member you have got to understand where the family is coming from

my father is a officer in huntington and he does his job very well.im really tired of people blaming the hpd for this girls death, personally i dont think they will ever find the killer.

Anyone ever get the feeling that the only time the HPD can figure out a murder case is when they find Colonel Mustard with the Candlestick over the body?

While I do not know Leah I think about her daily as I have children. Most cases if you do not know anyhting within 72 hours it is not good.I know the police has many duties but a murder of a young college student should get first div's. Especially when Huntington is a College town. Most people can get DNA testing on the internet within 48 hours. Then the ole use your common sense and what we are not saying?? What is that? Sounds as if the case is a back burner case now. Perhaps Huntington should start installing camera's on their streets to ensure the safety of our college kids. My daughter lived a few streets down from there when she went to college @ Marshall and I feared for her safety too. Not such an unprofound fear I see. Someone has to know something! This lil girl should not die in vain, she deserves Justice! With nothing being said I bet the killer thinks they are going to get by with this senseless act. God be with her family!

I just don't understand. You know the person who did this was not a professional and left some kind of evidence. I just dont understand. This is not a big city like New York so why can't we solve the few crimes that we have. If I were the family, I would have hired someone from out of town to come in and investigate the crime.

Come one WSAZ...do some investigative jounralism. It looks like the police aren't doing anything about it. You are our only hope now!!

I don't get it !! Its almost March. When are we going to know. This is not fair to anybody. I guess someone is just going to get away with his crime.

Please, as well as praying for Ron and Sherry, remember Leah's Stepfather Brian (Sherry's Husband). He dearly loved Leah, she was like his own daughter and his son's her brothers loved her. They were one happy family. Leah was and is an Angel.

I check here several times a week to see if there's any news and I am just shocked that there's nothing, not one word from the HPD. It's very unfair, to the people of Huntington and to Leah's family - if no-one else, her family DESERVES to know the details. The torture of not knowing anything at all must be horrible. Nicole and "family member", my prayers are with you and your family, you have a strength I don't know that I would have in the same situation. I will continue, always, to pray for justice for Leah until her killer is found.

Each day we wait for word from the Police Department on the Leah Hickman case. We are praying for Ron and Sherry and all of the relatives. What a terrible thing to happen to Leah and the agony must be terrible for the family not knowing who took the life of their beautiful daughter.

We pray for the monster who took Leah's life away to be brought to justice soon. It is torture to go day after day not knowing who or why. There is just this terrible sadness we carry around inside and we all miss her so very much. Please keep us in your prayers.

IT HAS BEEN ONE MONTH SINCE THE LAST UPDATE...ITS TIME FOR SOME NEWS! WSAZ NEEDS TO "DIG DEEPER" AND SEE WHERE THIS CASE STANDS. IS IT STILL AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION? HAVE THEY PLACED IT IN COLD CASE? STILL CURIOUS AS TO LOOKING AT THIS GIRLS MYSPACE PAGE FOR "STALKERS"...THE FACT THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO NEW INFO RELEASED IS TERRIBLE

I agree with connie and concerned some day the truth will be known and some day someone will have to pay for this crime and the others the one thing that really gets me is that i dont watch tv if i do its the news and i read the newspaper daily and these crimes that concerned mentioned i haven't seen or heard about them Ironton is very close to us why have we not heard of these crimes, and it isn't just me i have talked to others about things that i read on comments and their like i don't know anything about it. I have been saying all along you better keep the ones you love close at heart, they might not be here tomorrow, my heart goes out to all the familys

Go ahead readers, knock Jewel if you want, at least she is keeping viewers fired up and interested. don't let this die. If I was a family member, I would be ranting and raving for answers. Something is definitely not right here. Maybe they can't name a killer, but, what
