There was a lot of toe tapping, grinning and picking at the Paramount Arts Center Friday night in Ashland while bluegrass music has been a favorite for many adults in our region.

It's starting to catch on with our youth. The line outside the Paramount theatre Friday night says it all a lot of folks like bluegrass music.

“I love bluegrass music. Family played in the Opry. It's always been in our family,” Monica Williams said.

Boyd County native and national recording artist Stephen Salyers opened the show with the National Anthem and says bluegrass is making a comeback.

Some of those young people are Lafe Flaugher and Casey Thomas.

“I’ve grown up with it,” Flaugher said.

“It's more of a country style for country boys like me and Lafe. I've always loved bluegrass and country,” Thomas said.

Some people came to brush up on their own technique.

You can catch the bluegrass gospel shows on WSAZ each Sunday at 9 p.m. and on MyZ at 7:30 p.m.
