Rebecca Schoettle Pediatrics in Portsmouth is reporting a lot of children have bronchiolitis, an infection of the respiratory tract that affects the tiny airways that lead to the lungs. It can make breathing difficult, and most often affects infants and young children because their smaller airways can become blocked more easily.

Some children are showing up with viral gastroenteritis, sometimes called the stomach flu, although the influenza virus has nothing to do with it. It causes vomiting and diarrhea. If you have this, it's important to keep drinking fluids so you don't become dehyrdrated.

Dr. Schoettle is also treating children with strep throat.
Doctors at Jackson Area Family Practice and Pediatrics are also seeing strep throat, as well as some cases of pneumonia, and upper respiratory infections causing fever.
